sa rx7

so ive been doing searching, learning more and more, getting ideas and help about putting the fc's motor in my first gen and noticed that my car isnt an fb, its an sa? Does that make things much more difficult? What are the differences in sa first gens and the fb's? I know you could get the 13b motor in 84 and 85 but what makes the 79-80 sa different then the other fb's?

sa22c was the original Mazda model classification for the RX-7. US imports used the sa classication for 2 years, then it was switched to fb to fit in with the local vin system. Outside North America the sa designation continued. The chassis number was in sequence regardless whether it was sa or fb.

Ha! unless you consider the STYLING differences!! Certainly two camps of thought on the "original" SA design (nose, tail) vs. the porpoise-nosed FBs of 81-85...
