SA vs FB

i am only used to the 84 rx7 but at the end of this month ill be owning an 80 with a 74' 13b swap. i know there are some differences in these cars im just not too sure what they all might be. i know the interior is different. are all the body panels the same? i was fixing to start on a project front header panel and i wanted to know if i could use the one from the 84 to put on the 80. i also know the ignition is differnt on the 80, i alwayshere bad things about their ignition, how can i improve this? i also know that the fuses used for the 80 are differnt, is there anyway to convert it to the newer style?

theres always a way to convert fuses. but why? they work good. as for the body panels? well the fenders are a bit different and so are the bumpers. the rear half is also different. but the header panel, doors, hood, and the thing by the wipers will swap. the difference in the ignition is not much. 2 differnences, the ignitors are weaker so it's told and the ignitors are mounted on the fender well instead of the dizzy. all you need to do is change the ignitors to the newer ones. thats it. good luck with your car.

The Header panel and Headlights are the same. The fenders are not.

The 79 had points and the 80 had electronic, But the Ignitors are on a box on the fender not on the Dizzy. there is nothing wrong with it but they did use J105 ignotors that are said to suffer from heat faster. The trans is different and has a very different stick. The stick is much larger then the later cars. The 80 may have the odd thread pitch brake lines like the 79 does. The major thing you will notice is the headlight switch is very different. the later cars have the twist on the left side. on the 79 and 80 it is on the rignt and moves down to turn on the lights. the Tach doubles as a volt guage. you dont have an oil pressure guage and the rear housing is not tapped for one. The center console around the radio is different. If it has a sunroof it may be like the later cars or it may be like the 79, The 79 has a flip latch and the others have a twist ****. The 79 has glass fuses I dont know about the 80.

I like the 79 - 80 much better then the other cars. it is very unique.
