SA rear light assembly.. Pics?
OK, here is my issue.
Last night i while i was busy sanding the Rex for a new paintjob, i got a nasty surprise.. The car is a SA, but it has FB rear lights. Before somebody starts flaming me for beeing a ****, and tell me i cant see the difference between a SA and a FB, i KNOW its a SA.
The thing is, the previous owner thought it would be a great idea with FB rears. Well, not a bad plan to start with, but.. The son of a bitch has cut out part of the center plate, actuallt right where the plate recess is, to fit the lights. I can live with this. The thing i cant live with is that the stupid bastard has "built" a new "frame" for the lights. Well i could have lived with it if he had done a proper job, but no! He built the "frame" with window sealant! Needless to say it looks like ****, its not waterproof and well its just plain stupid!
Now for the good part. I have decided to go old school again, and i am getting a hold of some SA rears. Thing is, these will have to be mounted again. The cutout, i can fix by just welding a new plate where the recess used to be, but i`m not sure how the original lights where mounted. Thus i need:
1. A picture of how the rearlight assembly with frame looks like
2. A picture of how the mounts look!
Seeing that im the only one in a 200 mile radius owning a SA, i cant just pop by a wrecker and have a look!
Can someone please help me?

Thanks a lot! This really helps me on my journey to the perfect 7!
Damn, SA`s look really good!
Ill try taking some pics tonight so that you guys can see the carnage caused by idiots with "smart" ideas. Though the basic idea isnt that bad, the way the workmanship on the actual fitting sucks...

Thanks to everbody that is posting pics. Im still in searcf of a pic where the lights themselves are separated from the car, and a pic of how the mounts are, if anybody has this, i would be very thankful.
On another note, i just found a painter that is willing to do my car for a reasonable price, so it looks like i can get done before the end of summer afterall!
Just a matter of time and elbow grease, im currently only working 5 hours a day on the car, gotta earn some more money for it! I have also taken pics, should be up over the weekend!

I've owned 3 SA's and two FB's, and I much prefer the FB lights. The whole rear end is just cleaner, and less cluttered. Still, each to their own however.
At least FB's can't be broken into by unscrewing the lights and reaching inside to pop the boot release

Sorry about jerking everyone's chain here's the same car with BOTH the same taillights installed. These are european-spec (yellow signal lenses on the OUTside) taillights, which seem to make more sense having outboard at the edge of the car. Also has the euro-spec door mirrors, too. Just wish I had the cool euro-front fenders with the signal lamp (round) installed mid-fender by the "MazdaRX7" badge. Interesting to see how thesed cars came equipped in other markets. Aussie guys ever tell you about the overhead lighting console the SA's came with there??
