Unless you cover opening with a plexiglass or other light weight substutite, you might end up creating more aerodynamic drag than performance gain due to the difference in weight. Never weighed one, but I'd imagine it to be around 10lbs or so.

 

i'm kinda thinking he means replace it with a metal roof???

which roof do you have... the flip up or the screw style?

i think its on the order of 20lbs, or less, IE not a big deal

 

I just weight a glass one it was 16lbs
