SA Front lip
SA Front lip
Hi I'm in search of a stock lip from an SA its more of a chin or splitter but if you know you know. I have a 82 that I found an original wing for and as much as I could make the splitter I really want as much factory parts on my car as possible for true period correct ness. I'm told the we're plastic on some and metal on others ill buy any salvageable of either style. Thank you hope you guys can help my search.
What month was your car assembled? (look on the door tag) There are 3 different SA chin spoiler configurations, depending on when the car was built. The 1st version, on very early cars, is metal where the spoiler is one piece (integral) with the two outer body panels which bolt to the front fenders on each side. It’s all one big metal piece.
The 2nd version came on cars built later (Aug-Dec 78), they are still metal, but it became 3 separate parts, the chin spoiler being a separate part from the two end pieces.
The 3rd version utilizes a plastic chin spoiler which I assume was due to the metal ones becoming easily dented and banged up. These show up on cars built beginning in 79 and will probably interchange with the 2nd metal version.

from 500001-506359 the 1 piece unit is 8871-52-910A
506360-540410 it is 8871-52-920D
and then from 540411 it is 8871-50-830, which has a note saying its not painted, so its gotta be the plastic one
all the part numbers are long dead for new stuff

Fun fact, My original car (564931) built May of 79, came with a plastic chin spoiler which was actually molded in red plastic. Unfortunately, it had a big scuff and tear in one spot, I'm guessing from shipping. When I brought this to the attention of the dealer, they ordered me a new replacement. I was surprised when it arrived to find it was all grey (unpainted) plastic.
The kid racer in me at the time mounted a larger, aftermarket air dam to the original one, just screwing them together with the larger one over the top of the OEM one. Eventually, I painted the grey replacement one which is still on the car today. Here's a pic of the original red molded one. From the back, you can see the original scuff on the far left.

I see em from time to time. I know inflation is rampant right now but $350 is high. Did a quick search on eBay and found this:

I can just give you my plastic one if things don’t work out. One less piece of car laying around the garage. I have the metal side lower pieces too. None of it is in good shape, but if you want them, have at it.
