a alumium wing and a fart can exhaust , maybe some counterfeit JDM tail signals, dont forget the carbon fiber look-a-like gear shifter and the treadplate floor mat you saw on the 1st fast and the furious and had to get...Give me a break, at least the rx was meant to be something fast....

Mods, if you could ban this ******* that would be just great. This is no place to be making these kinda comments, and you are WAY out of line. Either leave the subject alone or don't post in this thread.

On a side note, from the way you talk, it sounds to me like you are describing you own car. Constantly talking out of your *** and never a smart or influential comment.

The 12AT is getting to be very very difficult to find. A specialist engine importer can with luck sometimes find one in Japan, usually out of a 82-4 Cosmo as few went into RX-7s. The price will be higher than for a 13BT, plus for safety it will need a full rebuild.

Most people who say they have a 12AT, just have a carbed 12A with an aftermarket turbo not the genuine engine which is stronger, has efi and comes with low compression rotors.

The topic of this thread was lost a few pages ago anyway.

651 miles from your town to mine, so, you have about a 350 mile drive to St. Louis. If you're down, send me a PM when the weather warms up if you're interested, i have no heat and my car is down at the moment anyway.

I'm 20, i can't supply beer. :P

I had a coolant leak and a friend was convinced it was my heater core, i told him it wasn't, but he insisted, so i told him if he wanted to bypass it, he could, he did and ruined the inlet to my heater core, still lost coolant...

Does it have a child seat tie-down? No.
Room for bikes, luggage, friends or camping equipment. No.
Does it have cup holders? No.

Sports cars are about self-indlugence. Leave the kids with the Grandparents. Drive, don't tour. When you get to your hotel, have a nice meal with your female friend, buy new clothes, toss the dirty ones in the hotel trash, mate like rabbits and do it again the next day.

Is an Rx7 a sports car? It all depends on how you live. Mine is.

lol. nice statement but you came into an enviroment that most of us in here except each others input for what its worth and help each other out. Wether they are installing a v8 in the FB or rotary purist. As for what I have seen you type so far, best bet would be to put your money, *****, and car in your MOUTH and mumble off.

Once a sports car, always a sports car

In my opinion the FB isn't a sports car, just a sporty car. It's handling is average and it's acceleration/speed is below average, however, it's a two seater, lightweight, pretty much no accessories and sporty styling.
You might want to think about the implications of that notion and reconsider. At the time it was built, the RX-7 was considered a sports car. Typically, one does not re-classify simply due to the advance of time and technology. Performance relative to present day vehicles is entirely irrelevant. A world War II bomber is still a bomber, even though a modern fighter can carry more bombs. Likewise, just because your modern minivan can outperform a 1950's Ferrari Barchetta (V-12 with "only" 140 hp), does not mean the Ferrari is no longer a sports car.

Although one may debate whether some vehicles are more accurately GT or sports sedans, and whether others are simply marketed/advertised as "sports cars," there was no such question about the SA/FB RX-7. It was and always will be a sports car.

Since when are sports cars supposed to be reliable? Maybe that's another reason I don't agree with piston swaps. I'm not going to flame and call out people on their choice of motor, though.

Never knowing wtf is going to happen when you turn the key is just another reason why I love my rotary. How boring would life be when you don't have to worry about breaking your motor?

One last comment on topic... the 1st gens may be underpowered and crap, but in there day did produce good lap times, it of course isnt as good as today, but you probably still cannot out handle one with a Dodge Caravan or some car like that. Is the Fairlady Roadster(that 60's European looking Fairlady) not considered a sports car because it is no longer up todate? dont remeber how much power it produced, but it wasnt much. but with that little hp, it gave the driver a thrilling ride...

Its sad, a good thread ruined... by the same morons pretty much, or at least the same mentality... as the ones who ruined the thread this was inspired by.

Why cant you idiots post valid information pertaining to the subject OR GO START YOUR OWN MENTALLY DEGRADING THREAD. Jeez, there is no need to fly off the handle so badly, and spread misinformation on a subject you dont know anything about... I at least try to tell people when I dont know what I am talking about. Why? SO I CAN LEARN SOMETHING VALUBLE FROM SOMEONE SMARTER THAN I, AND NOT START A FLAME WAR WHEN I KNOW I AM WRONG, OR EVEN WHEN I AM UNSURE FOR THAT MATTER!!!!!! sorry I needed to vent, and since this thread is already destroyed, I figured, why the hell not

A sports car will ALWAY be that a sports car, not a mini-van, or an suv, or a full size truck. YOU IDIOTS, if you have some way to reclassify it TELL ME, if you dont then DO NOT SPEAK. It may be a relic, but it is still a damn sports car!!

If it rides like an unsprung truck, makes a lot of noise, and stinks of gas fumes, then yes it is a sports car! Besides, the RX7 was unbeatable (for the most part) on the track during it's day. What more could you ask for?

IF I remember correctly, it doesn't take much to get them up to date either.
