S5 N/A intake manifold into GSL-SE?

I've seen tons of people put S4 intakes into the GSL-SE's, but few have put S5's on, and even less have written about it. I'm getting ready to put the S5 VDI manifold on my SE and was hoping someone would have some imput on possible gotchas, fitment issues, or impressions of the improvement (if any).

The S5 LIM primary ports do not line up with the SE intake ports for one is an issue.

Doesn't look too hard to port match the primaries. It probably won't be nessicary -- but would improve airflow.

Just a reminder. Don't forget to block off the exhaust port on the middle portion of the motor when you swap manifolds or you will have a nasty exhaust leak. Unless
you are going to use a standalone or mega squirt for the secondary injectors (which i do not recommend). Just use the stock se injectors in their original home and do not hook up the secondary fuel rail. rx7doctor

why don't you recomend using a megasquirt or other form of standalone? It wouldn't just be run the secondaries it would do all the things that standalones do. you know get rid of the afm, tune fuel and air curves. standalone is never a bad idea.

I agree. There is a large amount of restriction due to the airflow meter, and lots of horsepower to be had with a standalone. You can tune it to optimal performance with your setup.

The s5 intake is awesome. I recommend using a turbo 2 intake (it flows much better). I have one on my 13b and am extremely pleased with the results.

Bang for the buck, unless you are going to run aported or turbo engine in my humble opinion on a stock se motor the gain would not outway the cost. the stock se injectors with the added air from the s4/s5 system will run pretty smoothly
and have good throttle response. rx7doctor

The current plan is this:

-S5 intake manifolds
-header -> bonez cat -> straight pipe (mostly there already)
-megasquirt (about 2/3 installed already)
-stock GSL-SE injectors in the primary locations, stock s4 n/a injectors as blockoff plugs in the secondary location for now, depending on the fuel maps and duty cycle seen on the megasquirt, I may use the secondarys.

I will convert to 2nd Gen direct fire once the megasquirt code matures.

the VDI and 6-ports will be triggered by rpm set points from the ECU.

I havn't decided if I'm going to keep the 6-port sleeves or not, probably initially I'll have the sleeves in there but I'll probably remove them depending on what kind of power gains I see from the manifolding.

Yeah, looks pretty close to the S4 from the pics in the link...

Hmm... might work...
Anyone know offhand how much space there is to play with in the GSL-SE housings?
