Damn the new automatics!
Sorry, I haven't been into the RX8s since they were new, so I didn't know that they figured out a way to port them effectively.

I don't think it is a case of them porting them correctly.I think it is the fact that Mazda switched over to a 6 speed automatic(or atleats a 5) that is stronger, and more capable of handling the increased RPM's,and horsepower of the 6 port motor. The older 4 speed autos with the 4 port engine actually made about 5 ft lbs more of torque than the manual cars, but were only allowed to spin at about 7500 RPM if I remember correctly.

Yeah, the ports are more efficiently designed on the old 4 ports. I figure if I could get ahold of one of the old 4 ports and start porting it it would be even better than the 70's 4 ports that are built up.

I would love to see a hardcore ported Renesis doing its thing making huge power without forced induction. And I would love to see it done in an FB as well.

I was thinking that the majority of the Rx8's were a bit under 3,000, but fully loaded tipped in at just above. I was just making a general statement saying they were just above 3,000 lbs taking into consideration that everyone driving one would break the 3,000 lb barrier. A lot of good a car's weight does you without you in the car. It can't drive itself. But either way, they are light cars for being a modern car. I still wouldn't consider them light.

I like the renisis I look at it as 238 hp n/a and that getts better fuel economy then a stock 12a lol.

And the recal going on with teh Rx-8 is about a problem with them burning oil cloging the cats, or something to this extent. The motor is not defficent just not smog legal.

I think a Renisis would work great in an FB. You could mount it to teh stock trany because the Renisis only has like 150ft/lbs of torque.

It is also more reliable then a turbo car, and soon their will be a few renisis motors kicking around, so.....

Talk to you buddies who are mechanics, and see if you can get a recalled Renisis lol.

it's NOT 238 hp stock. 215-220 flywheel hp at best.

the recall is about engines losing vacuum. i suspect it's from accordian'd side seals, due to them being exposed to the exhaust heat. i've started offering heat rejection coatings on the side seals when i do rebuilds to combat this problem.
