Autocross video at Grattan Raceway

Here is a fairly short video of the race at Grattan on 9/4/06. I borrowed the camera from my sister, who unfortunately forgot to charge the battery beforehand. As a result, we only got about 1 1/2 runs on tape, and they were the first runs for my codriver and myself. On the first runs, we just took it easy to get a feel for the course and figure out where we would have to go into 3rd gear to get the best times. I ended up doing surprisingly well, besting a couple of highly modified RX7s with 13Bs and racing wheels/rubber. Trust me, our last three runs were much faster than what we have on video. It does give a decent look at the track though. Overall, this was about the most fun I've had so far racing this year. Take a look and let me know what you think. http://youtube.com/watch?v=nhQUR6H_09g

Okay, I just tried the link and it said that the video still has to process. If the link doesn't work when you try it, then try back later and it should work then. Sorry...

LOL. Yeah, that buzzer got pretty annoying on that first run. On all subsequent runs we went into 3rd gear just after the carousel, and again just after the 2nd slalom. It really sucks that we only have the slow runs to show, but it was a really great course. Grattan is pretty well known, and there are some high profile teams that practice there on a regular basis. The autox course only used about half of the track, but we got to use the other half for our return to grid so that was cool. I'd love to get out there and run the entire track sometime, but that really long straight is a bit much for a 7 I think. You could probably eat a sandwich and take a quick nap before you reached the end of it.

Now, now, my 7 is'nt so highly modded. 12A, RB dellorto intake, RB header with custom duals to rear axle and custom 2.5" muffler, coil-overs in front, custom 3 link rear end w/panhard. Oh... + Hoosiers on 13x8 rims (thx Carl).

I think you're a better driver than me because I doubt I could have gotten within 3 seconds of my time on street tires especially on that course.
And I was beaten by a street tired MR2!

Bruce, I think its that HUGE muffler that slows ya down lol.

I looked at the pic, and first thing I saw was the muffler, That think is a straight up beast! Car looks nice though!

Hey! Nice to be able to put a screen name with the driver! Bruce, your car is a monster! I can't believe how much faster you were than the rest of us. My last run was very fast, but I hit a cone in the slalom. And even without counting that cone I was still a long ways off of your time.

I definitely need a better look at your car, so I can figure out what the heck mine needs to be considered "finished". lol. I still haven't replaced the doors you blew off.

Hopefully next year I'll be on some real racing rubber. That 3link/panhard setup is definitely on my list as well. Coilovers will have to wait, since I just did shocks/springs.

Anyway, it was a pleasure to be stomped by you.

I just wanted to add that when I saw R.J.'s car (rotaryracer) before the race I couldn't stop myself from drooling. What an awesome looking ride he's got, and from what I understand he's also got "all the mods". I almost didn't want to race when I saw that.

It was like, you ever see a guy with an ungodly huge johnson, and then you feel like you're going to be impotent for a month afterwards? Yeah, it was kinda like that. lol.

Oh, and the guy in the MR2 is just plain good. A very smooth driver who always does well in our group. If he ever puts racing rubber on that thing, we'll probably never even see him. I couldn't believe that his car isn't a turbo! Nice guy too.
