RX7 Blind Spots?
Has this ever happened to anyone else? I'm 6 feet tall with a 34" inseam, so I'm kind of a tight fit in my car to begin with. I find that the rear view mirror is located in a fairly bad position, and creates a blind spot under some circumstances. I haven't been in an accident for over twenty years and consider myself to be a very safe and attentive driver. However, this morning I totally deserved to get T-boned in a very big way. As I was pulling out of the plant parking lot this morning (making a left turn into the road), I looked both ways and saw nothing but completely deserted road in both directions. However, after I pulled out into the road I saw (in my rear view mirror) a white blazer pull into the lot and there was a big box truck right behind him. I must have really scared the crap out of the driver of the blazer as I turned left into the road right as he was (I assume) turning into the parking lot. The box truck had been behind the blazer, waiting for him to turn in. Both of these vehicles had been totally obscurred by my rear view mirror when I checked the road before pulling out. My guardian angel probably had a nervous breakdown! Has anybody else ever had a problem with this? I'm tempted now to just remove the damn thing, but I use it constantly and would feel naked without it. I am open to suggestions at this point in the game...

Being damn near the same build (5'11", 34" inseam), I totally understand the dilemma. The inside mirror is mounted a little too low, for me. It blocks the view out the front, and leaves a lot to be desired for the view to the rear. It's too low to see the front, and too high to see out the rear..........
It is also too damn valuable to not have.......
Sometimes, I worry it ruin my record of over 25 years on the road, and never having an accident, other than getting sideswiped at a red light, in a semi. Ruled as a "Non-Preventable". Less than 5% of accidents are ruled non-preventable in the trucking industry.......

I'm 5'11" and I dont' have this issue.. I've found the blind spots on the first gen are very small. I've never really driven a 2nd so I can't comment on that generation. However the 3rd gen has huge blind spots. IDK.. maybe you two should change how you sit in the car.

The inside rearview mirror is a blind spot on many vehicles. The number of people that hang things from the mirror, is always a little concerning. They can't see around that crap worth a ****.
Changing how I sit, will not solve the issue. I already sit as low as possible, due to having a sunroof model.
Is it just me, or does the throttle pedal seem to be a little too close to the seat, compared to the clutch pedal, depressed? Put the seat at a comfortable spot for the throttle, and you cannot fully depress the clutch.........
Oh well, I aint gonna give up my car for anything, except snow. I use the truck for snow.

I am 6'2 and have never had my inseam measured, but I find that any blind spot the Rx has is easily viewed by turning your head, just what your supposed to do. My only close call was once when I was backing out of my driveway there was a pedestrian walking and the wierd C-pillar blocked most of their body.
I also have no accidents except for one where the lady stepped out of the car, looked at me and said, "its 100% my fault."

Turn my head? I never thought of that! I'll have to try that right away... Hmm, did you even read my post? Turning of the head will not cure this issue. You would have to duck your head way down, or lean way over to the side, in order to see under or around the mirror. Thanks for your input though... Okay, so I'm a little grumpy this morning!

There are a lot of blind spots. Chiming in at 6'3" I'm crammed in my car. I can't stand passengers because that side is then one giant blind spot. Especially if they are bigger or have a huge head.
Two cars can fit into the adjacent rear blind spots.

i'm almost 6'5, have a 34 inch inseam, and weigh between 180 and 185 pounds on any given day. I don't have a sunroof, and my head sits on the roof. I have a pair of cheapie buckets that need to be replaced, but they make it so I can drive my 7. The blindspot with the mirror was one of the first things that I noticed when I first bought my 7 last summer. Unfortunately, I have this problem with every car that we own except the fullsize van.

I'm 6'2". On every 7 I saw the post off near the domelight and mount a glueon mirror from the autostore down near the dashboard. Works fine. Sure clears up the forward view!
It's the rear quarter blindspots that give me fits.
I've never caused an accident in 50 years, and have only been hit when standing still. I drive defensively, but not necessarily slowly.

I had the same problem with blind spots, and hated "rubber neckin" just to check behind me all the time.

6'2" - never really had a visibility problem except when merging onto a freeway at a shallow angle with traffic to my left - the thick B pillar only causes problems for me then. All else is solved by shoulder checking.

I think many people are missing Kentetsu's point. I think he's having trouble seeing things in line with the rear view mirror. Like at a stop sign with a car from the right. I've had this same problem and it's a little embarrassing (not to mention unnerving) when I don't see any cars there and start to go, only to find a car sitting there, because I consider myself to be a good driver.

Oh I misread. The only time I really had trouble with the mirror is if the the car at an intersection was at a slight incline and I am at the base, but that isnt somethign common in most areas.

The only time I have had a problem with this is when I am trying to see a traffic light sometimes.
