Yes Rich, you are correct, thank you for clarifying that for me. Dealing with the loss of my step mother right now, so things are a little crazy and I haven't been myself. I want to thank you guys for your suggestions on how to deal with this blind spot. I'm going to check into an after market mirror that I can mount in a different location.

Depending on driver hieght, seating position, and road conditions, you can actually hide a rather large truck behind the inside rearview mirror. Having a car hidden by the mirror is very easy.
I have considered replacing the stock mirror with a lower mounted version. Having driven pickup trucks most of my 25+ years on the road, and semi's for a few years, I am more reliant upon the outside mirrors. Many times, I removed the inside mirror on the pickups I drove. Primarily to prevent the former wife from trying to hang billboards from them.............

Try installing different seats. Take out the seat track and attach your seats directly to the floor. You'll sit an inch or two lower.
Or mount your rearview mirror somewhere else. Either mount it directly to the dash like the roadsters or simply raise or lower it an inch or so.
Good luck!

I'm a healthy? 6'9" (205cm) tall, and manage to cram myself into my first gen. The stock rear view mirror was broken off and stowed in the glovebox when I bought the car, and when I tried to reattach it, I found the same problem. It obscures the top middle of the windshield. As was said before, find an aftermarket mirror at your local parts store and try it. Then again, I have the benefit of sticking my head out of the sunroof when I need total visibility.
If you're curious, I've had to make some other tall-guy accomodations in the interior. I have no driver's side door pull (so my knee can clear the door and wheel to use the clutch), a smaller diameter wheel (same reason), and I have removed the rear stowage bins to make for a little more "lay-down" room.

I am 6' 3" and never have a problem, mine is a convertible! However, with the top up there are a couple of blindspots with the smaller windows, but once you know where they are it's just a question of wriggling your head to cover them in one of the three mirrors.
In my wife's 85 again there are minor blindspots but you can adjust your side mirrors to cover them with only a little head movement. Changing lanes sharply is always a hazard, thus it's critical not only to look in the mirrors but actually turn round.
In some cars I drive the mirrors are insufficiently convex, they do not give a wide enough vision; just what is directly behind you. Some vans are a death trap. The RX-7 is better than average.
