yeah, rx7 (first gen) 13b's are 6 port, with the 5th and 6th ports kicking in at higher rpm,

and the rx2 13b's are 4 port. They would probably bolt right in though. If not, you could use a GSL-SE front cover for the motor mounts.

There ARE no RX2 13Bs. All RX2s came with a 12A. The RX2 12A motors used a top-mount starter and two distributors uintil 1974 when the 12A was revised. The '74 and above 12As used the single points-type distributor and the lower mounted starter. I think that most people install an older 4-port 13B from a REPU or RX4 and that may be where y'all are getting confused.

wrong again.. RX-4 and cosmo are 2 different cars.

One advise:
Please dont try to cover one BS with another BS. If you dont know, say it because it just showed that youre a ******* liar and you dont know your stuff.

At any rate, there's no reason for a 4 post newb to get his panties in a twist about it.

What the hell? Just because someone is new on the forum should mean he doesn't know? Come on guys, there are plenty of people out there knowing much more about rotaries and Mazda's then you (and me, for that matter) that are NOT on the forum. Just because you have more posts doesn't mean you actually know more!
There was a Cosmo 110S in the Sixties, powered by 10A engine that was in fact the first production two rotor (car)engine, although Mazda was forced to delay introduction, so NSU's Ro80 is officialy the first two rotor car. Then there was the RX-5 Cosmo, then the Cosmo HB, then the Cosmo JC (the one with 13B or 20B), and now some countries get the top spec RX-8 as Cosmo.
Nevertheless, RX-2 came with 12A, about 130hp (depends on country), but rather different then a RX-7 12A. Then the RX-5 (Cosmo) was offered with 13B's. Etc... Plenty of sites to find the history.
BTW: RX-3 was available with 10A or 12A, RX-2 (Capella) was 12A. The RX-4, was also the Luce, got 12A. The RX-5 Cosmo AP, had 12A or 13B. There's also the often forgotten R100, with 10A and the R130 (Luce) with 13A.

I'm not saying the guy doesn't know his ****, but he came in here with all guns blazing. He could have corrected IoTuS without being a dick about it.

It's good to see people taking an interest in the old rotary cars, though.

I'll add that the RX4's piston-engined counterpart was called the 626, and many of the parts on the later US model 626s will interchange with RX4. I suppose this thread really belongs in "other rotary", but I think that it's good to get people involved that wouldn't ordinarily visit the "other rotary" board.

AHH! no wrong again! The rx-4 came with a 13b!

OK here is the be all and end all of this arguement:

Cosmo Sport: 10A
R100: 10A
RX-2: twin dizzy 12a
RX-3: 10a or 12a (only 12a in america)
RX-4: 13b
Cosmo (called RX-5 in other countries): 13b
REPU: 13b

Plus the 12a was not 130hp, that was the 13b. The 12a was more like ~100hp.

Wrong... Or at least: not 100% correct. The 12A in the non-US RX-2 did have 120hp (I got mixed up about that 130, it was 120hp, in Europe at least). You're probable right about the 100hp, but only in US version then.
Anyway, you're still not 100%correct, so you cannot claim you ended the discussion!

aww damn, you are right. When you said 130hp that sounded like the 13b in the rx-4 and cosmo to me.

If we keep going on about the differences in Mazda's 70's cars in every country, this discussion is never going to end...

Yep, you are right! That's also why I said 12A in rx-4. I based that on the information available to me ( www.der-wankelmotor.de ), but that was only correct for the European market. And even there it'd probable not be for each country...

Sorry if you feel that Im being a dick. I kinda came too strong...but I just hate it when someone tries to cover a bs with another bs. I rather be humble to say I dont know. There is nothing wrong for not knowing. I dont know it all myself.

Besides -all- the info mentioned. The bolt patterns differ. Also the exhaust ports, and intake port size.

The Twin dizzy 12A had 3 holes for a exhaust port.
The single dizzy had a normal port.

Bit of trivia : when a Twin dizzy exhaust port was ported.
We used to call it a smiley port.Seeing that the material in between the ports were removed, and the 3 ports made a smiley!

Sorry if that was useless info,i thought it to be good memories
