Not bad for a STOCK engine... Like to see it with a built one like originally planned.

A stock smog-era 460 barely puts out 200hp

Not too difficult to get 500 easygoing HP from a 429/460. The hard part is getting decent headers in there... I had two of those engines in the "Big Bird" T-birds (one '72 and one '76) and you could barely get your fingers between the upper control arm and the stock exhaust manifold.

Why!

Why do it?

You could go faster and get more HP for a lot less cash out of a 12a

am I missing something or is this just stupid?

The Ford was desmogged with headers,so it was way above that HP level peejay pointed out...let these pathetic times be a warning to everyone contemplating the folly of desecrating the 1stgen with a bastard V8...

Let’s see.... 200hp, 13 sec 1/4 mile, no handling whatsoever, and it cost him more than a good port and exhaust/carb. NO THANKS.

Now when he finishes with the motor, and if it is capable of good times after that, I will give him props. Any hot rod is cool, even if they have to desecrate a rotary.
