WA Rough start and ticking noise?

This morning when I started up my gsl-se, it died on me. Started it back up and it missed pretty bad. Almost died again but I hit the gas pedal a couple times and it smoothed out. It has also started ticking often, it speeds up and slows down with the rpms, sounds like a mettalic ticking noise.

I thought it was an arching plug wire at first and changed the plugs and wires. Didn't work. I'm thinking maybe it's an injector, but I'm not sure. Anyone have any ideas?

Start the engine up in a dark place, it may be a bad coil that has a cracked tower and is bleeding the spark off.

Now that you mention it, when I changed the plugs and wires I noticed that one of the coils had some corrosion on it. I will take your advice and try it out. One other thing I noticed was the top right plug wire had what looked like rust on the inside of the boot that connected to the spark plug. What could that be?

Corrosion was caused by moisture. If the brass in the coil tower is rusted/corroded, that may be the cause of the spark leakage. Also check that coil for cracks. The noise a spark makes when it bypasses the plug wire and 'leaks' is quite distinctive.
