Question rotors

i was just wondering if anyone knew the best brand of race rotors i should get for my 12A. i autocross and im down too much horsepower from the other csp drivers, so this is the first step after my headers. also, is there anything else i need to replace when i get the new rotors?

i'm assuming, since you mentioned your power deficit, that you're talking about engine rotors and not brakes.

what kinds of mods are you allowed in CSP? i'm asking because, the only reason i could see for you to change rotors (aside from them being out of spec) is if you wanted to use forced induction. so i'm not sure what you want to accomplish ...

There's really no such thing as an off the shelf race rotor. There are mods available such as lightening, balancing, pinning the rotor gear etc. but these are only needed on high rpm race engines. And by the sounds of it you're running a basically stock setup.

I think it might help if you take a step back and tell us exactly what you need in terms of performance, budget and class regulations. Because, there's a lot of performance mods than can be done before you even touch the engine internals. And even if you do rotors are way down the list.

someone told me that i could get cross drilled lightned race rotors that would increase my horsepower. i cant remember the exact reason they gave, but it seemed they knew what they were talking about. anyway, before i did anything i wanted to get some more opinions. in csp, you cant have any forced inductions, no turbos, superchargers, etc. im not sure of the exact rules right now, i dont have a rule book handy, but its the street prepared class for scca solo 2. if you have time, im sure theres a website somewhere, otherwise ill try to get hold of a rulebook and let you know what all i can do.

dude, do yourself a favor ... NEVER speak to that person again. he/she would be wrong on both counts ...
1 - you cross-drilling engine rotors? there is no point to doing something like that ... anyone that says otherwise is a moron! "race rotors", as you call them, like revhed said before, are not "off-the-shelf" items. you can buy rotors with low compression, but other than that, you (or you engine builder/machine shop) have to modify them for whatever racing you plan to do - whether you need locked gears, race-spec bearings, machining to make them lighter, etc., etc.

2 - cross-drilling your brake rotors WILL NOT increase horsepower! there's a 4-page thread going right now on cross-drilled brake rotors ... check it out and form your own opinions.

but do yourself a favor and get one of those schematics on the rotary engine, so you can be able to know what each part of the motor does so people can't lead you astray.

as for HP adding mods legal in CSP, after a complete exhaust, a high performance carb/intake would be the best bet.

Thumbs up

we were both talking about the same thing, because he said the brand name and told me they revved up to 8500 rpm instead of 7000. anyway, ill take your advice and look into things further. as fo rhte carb though, i do need one, because ive been having problems with mine. if you have any advice on carbs, please let me know.
