Rotor Compression
Rotor Compression
Today I got my car to mechanic
to check the compression and the
front rotor is dead
. I really
feel sad about it. I bought that car almost 3 years
ago and the guy had told me that it was rebuilt.
They say that he only rebuilt one of them so
now the other one is dead. It looks like a nightmare.
They say they can get a rebuilt engine from
Mazda. But it's a fortune. What could I do to make it
economical? What should I do ?

You have a couple of options. Did the mechanic say that the seal was broken, or is it just stuck? If it's stuck, you may be able to free it up by using an engine cleaner like Amsoil Power Foam, Marvel Mystery oil, or even ATF. You would want to pour a small amount down the carb bores and rotate the engine, letting it soak, overnight. Then try and start her up. The worst case scenario is you will be back where you started, and you just may avoid a rebuild if the seal is just stuck.
If the seal is indeed broken, you will have to tear down the motor. So long as there isn't any damage to the rotor housing, you could purchase a seal set from the dealership and attempt the rebuild yourself, if you are mechanically inclined. If not, there are other sources for factory rebuilds besides the Mazda dealership. Check out these places for engines:
