The primary ports on the jspec 12a Turbo are soo small.
Wouldn't it be a better power making decision to run a TurboII FC turbocharger on a retuned nikki carb such as one from sterling???? I have seen many write ups here on the forum of people doing this.
The ports on the 12a USDM are so much larger.
I found some info on the Jspec 12a turbo motor a few weeks ago online.
It included what looked like a factory advertisement of the motor. It listed the power as being 160 hp@6500 RPM..
And the 6 port 12a(carburated) at 140hp@6500RPM

FB II is right. The GSL-SE ecu won't help you with boost. The ecu is set up for NA and doesn't see boost so you can blow your motor with just 1lb. Other people running boost on the gsl-se ecu (including me) are using a Cartech or Vortech FMU to compensate the fuel.

But that is not what i was asking. The gsl-se ecu I would think would be able to handle the fuel, but what I was mainly trying to find out was on the factory 12at did it have anthing from the factory that controlled boost? I know they had no IC so was it a blow thru design?
I am not going this route, but I would like to know.
I plan on going 13b turbo in my 79. I have two motors I could use right now, a 13b 4 port or a 13b 6port. Both na as of now but one day, I would like to pull the 12a out and make a sleeper!

I'm using a 12:1 FMU.
This is all from memory. The 12at is fuel injected that can handle boost. You will need the wiring harness and 12at ecu which hardly ever comes with the long block. That's why you don't see many people running that setup. It's easier just to do a carb blow thru with that motor.
