Rotary heat + glass pack = ???
Rotary heat + glass pack = ???
I am running a straight pipe... literally at the moment and it draws unwanted attention. Thrust makes a muffler that can be hid under the car as well but its a glass pack and I am no master at exhaust systems...
So do glass packs hold up worth a damn against the rotarys exh. temp?

I've heard it said they last long enough to go around the block. Unless its far away
from the header and has some other intermediate silencers in front of it, it will
not last long.

if the glass pack was in the rear, it might be ok, but if its going to be in the middle, it will die fast.
if you want an example, i blew my glasspacks (thrushes too) up in 9 half *** laps...

I have a magnaflow cat running directly into a magnaflow muffler as a presilencer and that all goes into a cheap monza muffler. It's really quiet and so far has held up very well to the heat. Of course, the cat is taking the brunt of the heat.
You can always buy a cherry bomb or thrush glaspack, cut it open and re-fill it with stainless steel materials, then re-weld it together. If you weld it yourself you could technically make it for less than $50. It would save you $150 over the RB presilencer. However, it will be mild steel, not stainless like the RB. So it still won't last forever.
Here is a writeup on how to make a muffler from scratch. You could just do it this way and save the money on the thrush, but if you just want the quick/easy way, use the thruss and replace the guts. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=make+muffler

removed it, the front presilencer was pretty much toast and it had started getting
louder. This was after about 20K and 15 years of light use. It actually had started
rattling and getting louder many years ago but just got to the point that I wanted
to try the RB setup. Glad I did.
