rotary animation

Does anyone remember the animation Mazda used to have on their web site a couple of years ago? it had a section thruogh the motor as it was running. Or better yet did anyone save it? I really want a copy of it.

don't recall the animation you're talking about, but www.rotaryengineillustrated.com has some nice animations.

Thanks for the plug. I haven't updated that site in two or three years and I still get between 500 and 1,000 unique visitors per day. I have big plans for it, though.

I think I remember the animation he is asking for. If I recall correctly, it was on the Mazda training CD too. I'll look around and see if I can dig it up from my collection.

jeff20B never misses a chance to plug the site, Blake. I've found it very useful. Thanks for your efforts.

I wasn't able to find it in any of the obvious places. I know I have it somewhere because my site was plugged by Mazda on the insert, which was pretty cool. Not long after, Autoweek magazine plugged it too, in an article on the new RENESIS...probably because of the Mazda plug on the training CD. Then, I got a letter from Charles Hughes, president of Mazda MNAO at the time, complimenting me on the poster. Not bragging (okay, maybe a little ) but that's why I know I have it somewhere. Argh! Of course, that's no guarantee the animation in question is even on it; I'm just thinking I remember it there...but, my memory may not be reliable. Stay tuned, I'll keep looking.

Sorry, I'm not real keen to do it but if you want to put something together, I will sell them for $20 each (the "usual" price, before I stopped selling them) as long as there are 10 orders. Shipping is included. These will not be signed and numbered, because I don't want to expand the current registry. I have plenty of cardboard tubes, so it won't be too much of a hassle. The CDs would be $7, also including shipping, and would also require a minimum 10 orders (not necessarily the same 10 people). These would be shipped separately, since there is no easy way to bundle them together, so no discount for ordering both. Honestly, I'd recommend the poster over the CD...all the CD is are bigger vesions of the animations you see on the web site; the poster is something you can hang on the wall and enjoy. Paypal required. You (Dom) would have to keep the list of participants and contact me when the threshold has been satisfied and all are prepared to make payment. Sorry if this sounds a bit strict, but I don't want any hassles or it's not worth my time and effort. Trust me, I'm not making much profit and any messed up prints come out of my pocket. This is why I stopped selling them.

For those who don't know what it is, the print illustrates the cycle of a rotary engine and provides a description of the operation. It's printed in vivid 6-color process on 10 mil, 11x17 glossy stock, one at a time. The quality is photographic. The printing supplies alone are over $100 for this quantity, and I reject about 50% for flaws most people would never notice. I've attached a couple images, if that helps (no, the frame and matting shown in the first photo is not included).

Frankly, I don't care if the group buy goes through or not, but if it does, I will maintain the original high print standards and ship promptly.
