ROTA wheels- decision time

Ok, If you haven't read this thread, do it now:

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/new-wheels-available-first-gen-514551/

ROTA needs 5 orders of ONE kind of wheel to start making our fitment. In the poll, I included what people found most popular from the last thread. Don't base your vote on looks alone, take in consideration size, weight, price, and color. (I saw somewhere the D-2's go for about $700 while you can get the GT-3's for $450.) I'm pretty sure they will make them in different offsets, but not 100%. I'm not in contact with the company, so don't ask me any questions, I'm just making this poll. rotrmotr started the other thread, so ask him. For the record, I want GT-3's.

For the sizes and offsets, and more choices- http://www.rotawheels.com/wheels.php

Burnout, D2

Flight, GT-3

J.SPL, P45F

Slipstream, Track-R:

Oh yeah, don't say, "those wheels are teh suck" or talk about different kinds of wheels. ROTA only!!

Remember! some only come in 17 or 18 inch sizes, and most people don't want heavy bling wheels on their car. choose wisely! *prays for gt-3 to win*

~b.k

EDIT: you can vote more than once if you're okay with more than one wheel.

The Flight wheel looks awesome! Anyone know where I can get a price on those?

Hi everyone!

First- Thanks rbf41182gt for posting this poll

I spoke with Rota & I have more good news- prices on the above wheels & the
D2 wheel will be available in a 16x7 inch next month!!!

1- Burnout - 15x6.5 - $400 a set

2- D2 - 16x7 - $550 a set

3- Flight - 15x6.5 - $400 a set

4- GT3 - 15x7 - $450 a set

5- JSPL - 15x6.5 - $450 a set

6- Slipstream - 15x7 - $450 a set

7- Track R - 15x7 - $450 a set

Did not get a price on the P45F because it only comes in 18x8. The above prices is for a minimum 5 sets, after 5 the price drops- also we can choose the color of the wheel at no extra cost!

I am torn between the GT3, Track R & Slipstream- I will make a decision soon!

I'd really like to be able to get GT3 in correct offsets for FB. 4x114.3 or 4x110, doesn't really matter.

I voted for Slipstream, but I could go with the Flight wheels if needed. Cash in hand and ready to order!

I'm beginning to start liking the slipstreams too, they got that old school look. However, they look hideous with all 10 (!) holes drilled in them. I might even consider the D-2's if they made them in 15x7, but 16 is pushing it.

I just took a good look at them & you are right- I believe since these will be specially drilled for 4x110- I believe that they will have only 4 holes- I can ask them tomorrow.

The wheels will have the correct offset- I made shure of that before posting the original thread- as far what it is in numbers I believe its between 17 & 18mm for the 15x7 wheels.

rotrmotr,

Can you ask them if they make a center cap for their wheels next time you talk to ROTA? I think a cap would give a nice finished look. Thanks for doing all of the leg-work in getting this going.

If anyone can chime in on the right offset for a 7in. wheel, I'd like to know how much clearance we can give on the inside of the wheel. I've been playing around with different offset values here:

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

but I'm not sure how much room is behind the stock wheel to begin with.

I think I'm defenitely feeling the GT-3s. I wonder how much could we get them down to if we got something like 10 orders?

SA wheels

The stock alloy "waffle" wheels are marked 5.5 JJ 13 25
Meaning five and a half inch wide thirteen inch diameter safety rim with 25 mm offset.
One post to this thread says 18 mm offset is the plan. Is that the best to allow the widest tire wheel combo? I would prefer black or gunmetel in either a mesh, Track R, or the GT-3. I want to be able to run 225/50x15 tires all around. Probably Avon Tech M 550 AS.

I will be in contact with Rota this Monday- if we have the same ammount of buyers as voters (45) then I dont think it will be a problem if there is less than five buyers for a particular syle but then again I will make shure on Monday- I will let everyone know exactly how to place the order when the time comes. I have finally decided on the GT3 with a gloss black center.

I'm getting my new wheels in the mail on Friday. We'll see if I'm completely in that weekend.

I might be satisfied, or not.

i didnt vote because im thinking theres only a 30% chance i can afford to get in on it realistically.. i wouldnt trust the votes to be genuine interest. and the fact that people could vote for multiple wheels
