Unhappy Rocky start to my trip home.

So school is over for the year and that means that its time to make the 2000 mile journey home. Load up the trusty FB, wait till dark and I'm off. Making great time, front air dam really helps to keep that sucker cool. Suddenly car is sputtering and coughing then shuts off. First thought blown motor. Second thought bad fuel pump. Turns out the bolts fell right out the bottom of my carter pump while it was going down the road. It was toast. Get a tow to Tuscaloosa, yes Felix it was in Alabama your car just never wants to leave that state, and wait 6 hours for the parts store to open. Get Puralator generic pump. Install and I am on my way. Filthy dirty, exhausted, and now having to drive in the heat of the day with the traffic. Then I proceeded to get a speeding ticket in Georgia, stupid me. Its been a great trip so far. Rex is running good though, and getting fourteen miles per gallon.

Ben

Makes me wanna go check on my home brewed mounting system I came up with for my Carter pump cause the bolts it came with that hold it to the bracket stripped out...

Anyway, I hope you have a good, safe journey. Also, as mentioned, no more towing and mechanical failures .

hahaah i just finished a similar road trip! about 3000Km, 4 days before i was about to head home back to Sydney, about 1200 Km south, the gearbox blows up, i loose 5th and 3rd gear. so i order a new G-box, wait 3 days for it to arrive, then the battery dies! GRRRR $80 later, new battery installed then the starter motor packes it in!! GRRRRRRRRR i only had 1 day to get back to Syd and work so i have to clutch start it at every fuel stop on the 14 Hr drive home!

i was certain the car didnt want to leave Hervey bay/ fraser Island, come to think of it, either did I, i met a wonderfull woman there, and have to wait 2 weeks to go back and see her again.
