Rims

I've seen a number of threads asking questions about specific rims, but I'm not a rim-person so most of it goes over my head. However, I'll be needin' to get something to replace the stock SE rims 'cause I can't stand them. (don't worry, I'll keep the stock ones around!)

So, I'm wondering if everyone with aftermarket rims can post a pic and the manufacturer/model of what they've got, as well as if they're happy with them or not....

thanks :-)

Wow, no response.

I just got my tires in today for my 16" Kosie Prauzer's. I plan on mounting them tomorrow or Saterday. Keep this post up to so I'll remember to post about the tire/wheel combo I have. Here's a pic of them on the car for test fitting.

Here are the MB272's that I have on my 84SE (4x114.3 pattern). They are 15x6.5", 38mm offset and they are a very good fit for the SE suspension and tires.

This dimension give enough increase in overall wheel height to look good without negatively impacting the rolling radius of the wheel/tire combo. When I calculated these wheels with 205/55ZR15 Yokohama's, they were less than 1% variance for the stock 14x5.5" wheel/tire combo with 195/60HR14's. This was very important to me, because I don't want to be reading a tirespeed faster than what shows on the speedo - I live in the city and need to avoid speed traps daily.

On the car, I am very happy with their performance and weight. The front suspension is very close when mounted, in other words, the front springs will be your closest interference component, but the distance between tire and spring is about 1/4" - under very hard cornering, I would expect that you would be rubbing the tire with wheel deflection and tire deflection forces at work. Tires are just as important as wheels, so choose some that complement the design of the car/wheel. I went with Yoko's because of the offset mount - they create a lower-profile 'look' and also protect the rim edge against curb rash.

15x7 inch ROH Snyper Wheels
Toyo Proxies FZ4 205/50

Same rolling radius with this combo. Rubs slightly on inside if I turn the wheel all the way, but, not really a concern.

I bought them at JDWheels...here's the page...

CopyCat ... JD Wheels uses my car as their model for Snypers on the 1st gen rx7 (look on the front page, they havent put up the new (read: better) pics i sent them yet)

15x7 all around forget the offset, but with Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's in 205/50/15 there is NO rubbing at all.

the snypers are unique, cause they are 4x110mm, for your SE, you need 4x114.3mm.

i dont know if you can get Snyper's in 4x114.3mm.

You can checkout my rims at http://members.sounddomain.com/89berettagtu
They are on page 3. The rims are Centerlines that I got from Steve and they have Toyo proxes FZ4 205/50r15 and they rub just a little on bumps I just need to replace my worn out springs. Oh and the rims are drilled for 4-110 and 4-114.3 so they will fit any first gen

Heres my old Centerlines. They were in stock (Les Schwab) and actually had 110MM and 114.3MM patterns on them, from the factory!! A little heavy, but more oriented for looks than perfromance.

Why did you get 185/60/15's instead of 195 or 205/50/15's???
