the right jets for a Holley 465cfm

hey guys, since I don't want to buy Racing beats modified Holley cause it awfully way to much. so I decided I wanted to buy a regular Holley 465cfm and built it and re jet them for my 12a stock port. I think it would be way much cheaper. so does anyone know the right jet sizes to use for our cars? or any other modification to do also will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

You should have done some research before pulling that trigger!

Nothing about making a standard holley work on a rotary is fun, or easy. It certainly isnt just the jetting. The signaled metering of that 465 is completely retarded and unusable on what I presume is a 12a(?)

There will be some who tell you you can "make it work" and I can tell you even a RB 465 doesnt run *right* even if it runs.


I can perform all of the mods, and a lot more than RB does to a 465. However, it costs ME 200+ to do it, lol so GL with your savings on the non RB.

I'd recommend a nice Nikki, if you're gonna drive on the street. The price is right and they work well.

well after talking to a friend. I'm going to try to perfect the Holley 465 cfm carb for our cars. a lot of trials and errors to comebut it will achieve.

Holleys are not that great. If anything find a Dellorto or Mikuni.

I have spent THOUSANDS tuning holley carbs to run on rotaries. Even if you get it perfect, the holley has far too big an acc. pump for a 12a, and the fuel bowls are mounted wrong way around.


Save your money. Buy a Nikki.

not much of a holley fan, prefer downdraft and sidedrafts (weber, dellorto)...

holley jets can range between 58/60, 60/62, and so forth, recommend a holley jet kit.

if you run a metering plate, you have to get a "9" or "f9", not sure exactly, but needs to be redrilled.

there is guys in san antonio that know how to tune them. I wouldn't send the carb out to get re-tweaked, should be in car in order to tune and play with the jets....



power valve block off is also needed

fpr and at least a good fuel pump is recommended...

i have an original rb holley 13-b streetport which was rebuilt by burbank carburator; the shop that distributed holley parts to racing beat up to the early 90's so i know their secret. however, the carb and notes provided to me are stored approx 100 miles away lol

I have 3 to spec RB carbs, they just play with the emulsion wells... Air bleeds...


Their 12a carbs even still have power valves, and come with 49 main jets.

actually, the 80s version had mixed match parts instead of the straight out of a box with rb spec jets and such.

I'm fine tuning a 600 Holley with good luck. A lot of understanding how it works and metering tools is better than a how to spec it out. Too many variables to please everyone. Get a edelbrock in my opinion. Dont get me wrong I love tinkering but if you don't stay away

anyways! back to carbs. have we ever thought about the intake also can be a Problem too? no offense to RB, Rotary shack, or any other company that does intakes for our cars of course.

Are you driving this everyday or drag racing it? Road course?

A Holley is bad at all 3, FYI. Unless you spend the aforementioned amount of $$ to modify the float bowls, needle and seats, vent tubes, and all of that.


Holley on the street= Poor MPG, late opening secondaries, rich idle, lousy cold starts, and need a huge amount of attention to the idle circuit on virtually any kind of weather condition change. And the ability to flood your engine with a single pump stroke when returning to closed throttle.

Holley when drag racing= Rotor 1 lean on heavy accel, bc of the ****-poor fuel bowl design, uncovering the metering plate in some areas, and flooding the rear. This actually reduces power, and is hard on the engine.

Holley when road racing= Crappy throttle response, spitting and sputtering in almost any kind of corner, the same lean on rotor 1 condition, vent tubes spitting out fuel and flooding the engine on hard braking.



So the wall of text didnt kill you? What is an as delivered RB or standard Holley carb good for? Pretty much nothing, but its cheap and easy to rebuild.

Holleys work great on a rotary.... U guy that bash holley just don't know how to tune to a rotary... It not a BBC..... It take time and patience.. Maybe it easier for me am puertorican.. Lol...
