Rewiring retractable antenna

How do I get my retractable antenna to continue to retract even when the car's ignition is turned off?

I'm sure someone has made this modification and I would like any instructions/pictures to assist me in performing this mod as well.

Mine does keep retracting after the ignition is turned off. Mine is an '85, and I don't think I changed anything to make it do this when I put a different antenna in.

Alright...

Now I'm really confused. I have an '85 as well and the antenna stops retracting when the ingnition switch is turned to the off position, always has, at least for the 10 years and two radio systems installed.

There's a writeup on this somewhere in the archive, probably under 'replaceing power antenna'. It just involves splicing into an 'always hot' lead to the hatch cover light. I've done it several times and have it on my Palm Pilot for convenience. If necessary I'll post it, but that means I gotta figure out how to IR from the Palm to ubuntu.
