Reverse Glow Guages.......Anyone have them installed? Care to help me out?

Reverse Glow Guages.......Anyone have them installed? Care to help me out?
Just got em yesterday (last night) and would like to install these guages in my 85 GSL, but I'm lost like a Fart in a Whirlwind.

Wheel the biggest pain in the *** is taking the gauges out. I would reccommed that you take your steering wheel out and everything around the steering collumn. Then undo all the screws that hold it in a wiggle and tug and just gently get it out. And then you have to unplug everything from the back of the cluster.. REMEMBER where they go. Then you take the cluster apart nicely, you should take the needles off and take the screws out that hold the gauge face in. THen yuo place your new gauge where the existing gauge was. Put the needles back on and put it together. Then you have to wire up the switch to turn them on. I used the dimmer switch. Witch is right beside the choke ****. Tie into the positive side before the dimmer and that will let you dim the gauges with your new ****. You just have to look at it and take your time, its not that hard to do. If you need any pics I can take them.

Man, I worked on it again last night and Go figure I can't get the steering Wheel off without a puller I guess. I'm not even sure I can get that thing out of there even with the steering wheel gone.
Is this the way you did it Red13?

Pullers are a common must have item for your car repair stuff. Go ahead and p/u a set. May as well spring for the new streeing wheel while it's off too.
When I pulled my dash I had to get the guage cluster out as well. It's a biatch but doable. I found I had to lay upside down under the dash to get the connections in the back undone. The guage cluster had to be tipped down slightly and pulled and twisted. carefull not to scratch the clear lens.

You can get the wheel off without a puller that, you just have to hit it with something a few times, not real hard, tug pull and you can get it off. BUt it is a bitch. You can get it out with the steering wheel gone, it is close, but you can do it. That is the only way. And yea you could just go get a grant wheel, for like 50 dollars, and the instalation kit is only 25. And it is 10xs easier to get it on and off than the other one.

Funny, I didn't need to pull the steering wheel... Though I may have had the steering column loose from pulling the entire dash...
There are four bolts that holds the steering column in place, remove those, and you can move the steering wheel enough to get it out.

make it easy on yourself and pull your seat out, it's 4 easy access bolts and gives to a HUGE amount of space to work with. You won't have to twist yourself around trying to disassemble things. Then you can vacuum out from under your seats
