rev limit

how high can i safely rev my bone stock 124,000 mile 83 rx7 gsl and what gas mileage should expect on the highway?

when it beeps STOP!!!! its still stock so just when it beeps, not to say that if you get or already have mods you can increase redline; just that the motor's got miles and its stock. gas mileage ive noticed like 16mpg on my GSL-SE.

my SE can handle 9k w/new housings & 86-89 rotors

just run it to 8K......... rx7gslse runs his to 8K and hasnt expirenced any problems that i know of so far.... but he does have exhaust, and some very nice front suspension, and better rims..... and a cone filter, but still, when it was stock (MANY moons ago, LOL) I rode with him, and thats what I observed he was shifting at with spirited driving...............

i normally run mine to 7-7.5k when I'm doing fast driving. I have an 83 gsl as well, but I'm not sure about gas mileage. It does like to eat gas though. My 83 doesn't have a buzzer, like some rx-7s. (Btw, was it just the 84-85s that had them?) The buzzer 84se is talking about is a little buzzer that sounds at redline or around it, to let you know you're there. So I'd say 7-7.5k, and the occasional 8k won't kill ya.

In stock trim, there is no point to revving past 7k. Not only is power dropping off at that point, but seal wear is greatly accelerated.
