Reusing my 12A Irons
I need a set of 12A Irons for my 4Port 13B engine. I have a set from my original 12A, but it was overheated once or twice (115k miles). How do I determine if they will yeild a reliable lasting engine if i reuse them? The car never leaked coolant or smoked, the overheating was due to a thermostat problem. It seemed to run fine afterwards. Since the irons can be resurfaced, I am assuming that the only problems to look for are cracking and warping. How do I check for these things myself?

The irons arent what usually gets damaged from overheating, its the rotorhousings that warp. You can check the FSM for the procedure using a straight edge and a feeler gauge.

Yeah, that makes sense now that i think about it, the IRONS are iron so should take alot more heat abuse than aluminum, duh. lol I dont have an FSM, ill have to hunt around for my haynes.
