Retrofitting power mirrors to S model

Retrofitting power mirrors to S model
Hi,
My S model doesn't come with any in-door harness but I imagine it's just a matter of finding the connectors under the dash for the left and right mirrors and also the connector for the mirror switch. Am I correct and has anybody done this retrofit?
Jim

I have done this recently, yes; as your car is an 85 (per your sig) your harness should have connectors at the door hinges (behind/above the kick panels) and at the control-switch location.
You'll need:
Appropriate mirror switch
door harness sections (also includes wire for power windows) with grommets for hinge area
Mirrors
Pretty easy to do on an FB; my SA was a bit more of a challenge as I had harness connectors (mine's a late model) but no mounting location for the switch. & SA door mirror harnesses are rarities.

Stu;
I'm working from a sample of one, which is not good statistically, but I found only one real difference on the door harness: The connectors at the mirrors themselves were physically a different shape on the SA power mirrors (and door harnesses) I bought from a local forumer, than they were on the FB mirrors I bought from the local bone yard as backup parts. The wire colors on the mirror motors were also different, though they functioned exactly the same. The motors themselves were the same mechanical model, from the same manufacturer.
The connectors at the chassis end of the door harness were the same, SA and FB.
And of course, we know the mirror control switch for the SAs was radically different from the FB switch. SA control switch had 8 wires and was a dual-joystick affair. FB's had only six wires and was a 4-way pad with a left-right switch in the center. Took me a little head-scratching time to work up a cheat to use the FB switch on the SA without changing any original parts.
I have photos (at home) of the difference in mirror connectors. I'll post them up tonight.
I don't have any way to absolutely confirm, though, if the parts I bought were factory original, or modified at some earlier time. I didn't see any signs they had been modified, though, and the wire color differences were likely original since they come out of a sealed motor housing. The parts looked OEM to me, and the (pretty knowledgeable) member I bought them from said they were.

Here's the pic:
In both SA's and FB's, the connector for the other end of the door harness is the same as the FB connector here: one, 4-pin connector with guide pins. The door harness wire colors are LtGrn/Red, LtGrn/Ylw, LtGrn/Blk, and Blk for the Right side, and LtGrn, LtGrn/Blk, LtGrn/Ylw, and Blk for the left side.
