Is it possible to retrofit a FD alternator to work with my SE???? I know I'd have to modify the connectors and change the serp belt pully to V-belt..anything else???

Silverrotor in the 2nd ge forum sold them already converted. I've got one and it really did just bolt in.
I belive the shaft has to be modified or the pully, and you'll need the S5, S6 connector other that that its pretty simple.

Hey guys, I frequent the 1st Gen Forum from time-to-time and couldn't help posting In this thread. I am the one selling FD Alternator Kits (as a paid advertiser to this club) retro-fitted for FC's. I should state that I have sold a handful of FD Alternators to FB owners, with Max7 being one of them

If you have any questions on this conversion, please feel free to PM me.

*EDIT* Max7, how Is the Kit working out for you? I'm sure other FB owners would like to know - with myself Included.

FC is 70 of 80 amps (70 amp = S4, 80 amp = S5)

FD is rated at 100 amps, but ive seen some people claim as high as 120 amps.

I have a Custom Starter & Alternator Shop a couple of miles from my house.
Can you just have them Up The Amp's on a FB Alternator???
They have rebuilt both of mine recently.
Thanks

The s4 FC Alternator was horrendous, to say the least, when I added a Flex-A-Lite Black Magic E-Fan. With this, and a few other electronics (at the time) my car was barely Idling with full controls on and with the Brake engaged.

So far, with many others to back up this testimony, this has been a top notch upgrade that several have benifited from.

Okay, enough of me now.

silverrotor, you rock man!

Someone posted a write-up on here a while back about adopting a Buick alt to fit our cars, but Pontiac's alts don't have the good name of Japanese alts. Plus, I don't have a grinder, so I wouldn't be able to do it anyway.

As soon as I have the money, you'll have another new customer. Could you PM me with a cost in Canadian (Shipped to Postal Code J9H 3V9 if it makes any difference)?

Jon

Edit: forgot to mention that I've got an '84 GS, but I'm sure the wiring will be similar to the S4. So whatever you did to get it running on your S3, I'll have to do

There's a pic here that I think may be illustrating what you're talking about, if you want to add it to the other thread:

I've got one of Silverrotor's alternators, no problems at all--though it's on a S4 engine. Nice clean install and a little extra voltage.

And yea just wire it up like an S4 and you're good to go.
