rethinking my project.. need input..

with all the information that I learned from
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/decision-time-carb-efi-423826/
I put my project on hold untill I solidify my plans and create a sutible budget. Why? I think that I will have to start all over again in chooseing my primary engine. I have a 1985 12A and a 13B. I am going fuel injection. FUTURE plans do call for a turbo.

I here that because the 13B is a six port its not as strong as the other engines could be. I also heard theres a way to 'close' 2 ports. Would that make the engine faster over all?

Then there the facts that the 12A is easyer to port. ready available. cheaper to rebuild.

I am faced with saying," theres tons of stuff that I just don't know about these engines to truly say this engine is going to give the power i need. I was just wonder if someone could tell me what has the highest potential. I know that makeing an engine fast depends on how much money your willing to spend. I want to build a fast car thats good enogh to take on some of those 'other cars'. I got the fuel pump and regulator picked out. I am going to go with the megasquirt unit to control the engine. I am working on building a surge tank. I am looking for a t2 transmission and looking into several 4 wheel disk break systems.

If I go with the 12A... it will be carbed and street ported, maybe even bridge ported.

If I go with the 13B.. it will be efi.. street ported.. and other than adding bigger injectors, not sure what else can be done to it. (this is where I need some serious input)

Use the 12A irons and the 13B rotor housings and make a 4port 13B then bridge port that.
