Hot start problem after tuning - Help!!
I hope somebody can shed some light on this problem..
Current mods
850cc primaries
PFC
M2 Intake
DP
RB Cat-back
RB High Flow Cat
Jecs Fuel Pump
ASP Medium IC
2001 efini turbos
airpump has been removed (they removed it without asking me!!)
9.5lbs ACT flywheel with counterweight
Put the car for check up and tune and now the car has a hard time starting (actually it starts but stalls immediately) when hot
Compression test on cold engine: 95PSI both rotors
Compression test on hot engine: 80PSI both rotors (i know it's low and the engine is on the way out)
I did not have this problem before with the stock ECU with a TekTom piggy back ECU.
Basically the shop reckons that the low compression is the cause of the hot start issue but I am not so sure because A. When I installed the PFC myself, the car started hot and idled rough but actually didn't stall. B. Immediately prior to the PFC being installed the car started fine with no problems and no rough idle.
Does this sound like a compression problem? or a heat soak/water temp sensor issue with the PFC?
Also since the airpump has gone and the rats nest has been cleaned up I noticed the exhaust note has changed significantly - any ideas why? I suspect because the airpump connection to the exhaust has been closed up..
I would appreciate anybody's input..
Thanks,

When the Air pump relay is removed a code is thrown. No CEL but there should be a code stored. Also just by removing the air pump itself will cause rough idle ( if I remember it right, hell it's been over 10 years since I ran an air pump ). Now this is WITH A STOCK Ecu, you have a PFC, correct? So try this first - idle relearn
. Then up your idle to 850 or 900 in neutral hot.
