Restore or Scrap

ok I'm sitting at work, thinking of the car of course and well its got me worried, I'm afraid I will freeze the tar, hit it with the hammer and find myself sitting in the driveway instead of inside the car. Is it worth repairing if the floor is rusted through? or should i part out the rest and haul off the frame? I need opinions, take your vote

why not just try it? If you do end up sitting on the driveway, then part and scrap it? shouldn't make any difference...

Take a look at my cardomain site and you'll say anything is possible. My drivers floor was so bad we had to literally cut out the WHOLE FLOOR including part of the rocker panel, wheel well, and the frame rail underneath was totally replaced. Link to my site is in my sig. I believe its on page 2, but the pics really don't tell half the story about how bad the rust was on my car.

I say go for it, and if you do end up with holes in your floor, then fix it. Its really not hard to do, but could be expensive if you have to have someone else fix it. As long as you have a little skill with spot welding and working with metal, you should be able to fix a floor.

What you want is a standard mig welder actually. A stick welder doesn't work well at all on sheet metal. It will just burn right through, but a mig set on the lowest heat setting should make some nice tack welds.

Since i havent welded since high school i decided its best if i just take it to a collision shop and have them do it. At least while im there i can get some rust protection and their work is garaunteed, and, i just dont feel like falling through the floor cause i made a weak weld somewhere. Thanks for everyones advice

if you got the money go for it, if not they gonna charge you an arm and a kidney. i mean you never really loose your touch in welding, give it some practice on some scrap metal and do it on the car. MIG welder works great for sheet metal.
