Replacing rear brake pads

ok i feel like an idiot but I need to know how in the hell you get the hand brake cable off the rear calipers???? I tried for an hour with no success.

handbrake.

Did you take the plastic off of the handbrake (one screw) and then losen the 2-3" long net on the end of the cable? So that you have as much slack in the cable as possible.

It would also be helpful to let us know what type of rear brakes you got (drum/disc)

evilness. No I didnt, I have the crappy vague factory workshop manual that says "disconnect hand-brake cable" and nothing more. Drum brakes dont have calipers do they? anyway I will be more specific next time. Thank you for the tip, makes perfect sense now.

Yep, your right, no such thing as calipers on rear drum brakes. That's what happens when I skim through the messages and don't read every word carefully, as you can tell in my spelling mistakes....
