replacement fuel pumps
What is a good replacement fuel pump for a stock port 12a. Mine is good right now but I'm starting to think that after almost 20 years it might go out and I want to take care of that before I get left stranded on the side of the road. You know that your car never dies and leaves you stranded unless you're in the worst possible place or time because of that damn murphy guy and his laws..

i'm very partial to the Holley Blue 110gph fuel pump. It can handle the fuel needs of a 13b Streetport. She's noisy but theres ways to handle that. $105.00 @ summitracing.com and includes a holley fuel pressure regulator.
if your fuel needs will always be along the line of a stock port 12a, the simple facet or cheapo parts store fuel pump should be just fine.

If you're going to stay stock carb and stockport, then all you really need is the mid-level Facet pump...with the kit, it's no louder than stock but will support a free-flowing exhaust up to 135 HP confirmed. That's with a stock carb, BUT a streetported engine. The older Holleys and the Carter are quite the noisy beasts and overkill for your application.

I use a Weber standard pressure / high volume pump (6 psi- 34 gph) and a holley regulator. Nice thing about this pump is that it fits in the stock location under the protective shroud with very minimal alteration. Its on a stock 12a with a 45 Weber DCOE. Will work with stock carb too.

Not sure what you mean. The fuel fittings (inlet/outlet) on the weber are 1/4" which works with the stock lines. The pump itself (weber) is cylindrical in shape but a tad larger in diameter than the stock pump. You can fit it in the stock location with a minimal amount of effort.
I believe the Holley and Carter pumps are a bit bulkier and will not fit in the stock location, requiring some effort to find a good spot, re-configure your stock lines (splice) etc..
As far as which pump is better? I dunno. My weber works fine on the stock 12A, but may be inadequate on a streetport or something along those lines..
I defer to someone with more experience for that answer.

That weber pump looks like a winner for what you need.
The Holley Blue is bigger and I had to massage the floorplan with a mallet to make it fit . It won't fit under the stock fuel pump skid plate. And I had to add in some fuel line. The instructions say you need to mount it top side up for the pump to work and last but mine is mounted backside up and she works great.
Yes, you need to spend $$ on fittings for a Holley pump. Just take it to an Earl's Plumbing shop and they'll hook you up. The inlet and outlet need a barb fitting for the hose to slide onto and a fitting for barb-to-pump.

At 6 psi, the Weber fuel pump will have to be regulated to work with a stock Nikki...that pressure is fine for Holleys, Carter Thermoquads, Quadra-Jets, Tri-Powers, Webers, and most other 2 barrel carbs, but it's too much for a stock Nikki....now you have to tack in that price if you want to use it....get a Facet, no.1102, $44.79 will work perfect unregulated, no.1103 will have to be regulated also but it's only $48.99...you'll have to check for the latest prices, that's from last year's catalog...

Hey guys, thanks alot for your inputs. My friend sent me a stock fuel pump thats good that I will use for now. I'll probably look at getting the weber pump when I upgrade my carb to a holley since It looks like it fits in the stock location without any effort.

still knew when the pump was on@!@ of course i didn't care, the radio is always on.
A buddy bought same pump and he mounted it inside a metal box. mounted metal box to car with rubber bushings. quiettttttt

hhmmm , Does the gsl -se outperform the stock gsl pump , and if so it should just bolt in place, right ? . No regulator or nothing? this is going to be going onto a stock rebuilt nikki, no rats nest and soon to have custom header( bye bye cats )....thanx..T

A GLS-SE is EFI and the pump produces about 28psi. This pump is NOT recommended for a NA carb setup.
However its arguably said that If used, a good Adjustable FPR can bring down the psi to at least 3 or 4 and only if there is a fuel return line to dispose of the much excess fuel.
I would just get a different pump in this case.
I have seen the Weber pumps and they would be easy to install.

The GSL-SE fuel pump is for fuel injection and a couple guys going to turbo there 12a's. A fuel pressure regulater is a must have in this application. I have heard of a guy hooking a GSL-SE pump to a nikki once. Gas was coming out of it, everyhere it could. Poor little nikki.
