replacement doorjam vin sticker

I'm repainting my entire car and want to remove and replace all of the factory stickers/labels/etc. VB and a few other places sell the vaccum routing ones along with the other under hood ones, but what about that one in the driver side door jam that has the VIN and build date, is there anywhere to get another copy of it? TIA

Check with your local DMV before you start messing with the VIN plate, they can get pretty cranky about vin plates that have been tampered with.

If you can remove it without messing it up, I'm sure someone can make an exact copy... it might not be cool with the DMV, but oh well

im going to be getting a triagulated strut bar from CPracing, and im pretty sure u have to drill through the vin plate on the firewall to mount it
but its not like the DMV does annual vin plate inspections

the vin plate on the firewall is held on by two small screws...that one would be easy to move

the VIN plate behind teh windshield is rivits, the one on the firewall is screwed on, at least on all the ones I've ever seen. I just moved it a few inches over when I put my CP bar on. I guess if I get that sticker off in one piece I could just laminate it and carry it with the car. They only look at it for inspection anyway, and I have that done privatly and he won't care.

Why not just mask it?

what I am confused about is why do you need one in the door anyways. and why is this even considered a problem? there is a vin stamped into the firewall. the screwed on plate and the vin in the windshield. I have never once had any body give a damn about my VIN #'s. in my 10+ years of driving it has never been an issue.

The only time anybody "important" looked at mine was at the inspection station for the GVW. And toughguy, masking is definatly an option, I'll probably end up doing just that. I'm changing the color and I just wanted to change it everywhere, I realize you won't see the original red under the sticker, its just little things like that that bug me.

Inspection for GVW? that is Gross Vehicle Weight, correct? Seems strange that people would care about that for a 2 seat sports car. Not a lot of people haul in their sevens (except for ***). I am sorry that you have to go through the loops for your car. I fear the day when my area goes to emmissions testing.

yea I don't know what the reasoning is but when they input the cars info into the inspection computer it requires the vehicle weight. Its odd because by the time you input that you've already got make, model, vin etc in there so it should know since it has stats for just every car in there somewhere. Oh well.
