Question removing steering wheel

Does anyone know the size of the bolts that fit into the steering wheel when using a steering wheel puller. I need to replace my light switch and I need the steering wheel off to gain access to the combination switch. BTW, it is a stock 85se steering wheel. Thanks in advance.

It's the same size as the spark plugs. I've never had to resort to a puller to get one of these off, usually a good hard yank will free it. -WG

The factory nut size is the same on all SE models. The socket type, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 depends on the puller.

May be I did't make my question very clear. I am looking for the size of the bolts that go thur the elongated slots(two of them) of the puller and into the threaded holes of the steering wheel. These bolts will act as an anchor points for the central bolt of the puller to remove the wheel. Hope that helps.

10 MM,, you'll find that there are a million nuts/bolts that size on a 1st gen. and thats right,,most times,, no puller needed.

That's true. Heck, you can even use standard bolts to yoink the wheel off if necessary.

It was the 1.25X10mm. I got the steering wheel off last night and replaced the light switch and the damn highbeam still won't come on!!!! I still get head light but no high beam either in the flash mode(pulling the lever towards me) or the sustain mode(pushing the lever away from me) This may be important, when I try the highbeam, my regular headlights will go off and the parking light will stay on. Anyone has any idea????

Check the contacts on the attachments to the switch. Same thing happened to me (head lights go out when I put the brights on). Was going top replace switch but mechanic indicated that cleaning the contacts would take care of the problem and it did. Happy Holidays

Thanks for the recommendation. I will try again tonight and clean the contacts and see. If it doesn't work, I am just going to add a set of driving light and forget about the highbeams. Any recommendation on what types of driving lights I should get?

You guys got a safety inspection there in Calif? If so, you probably won't pass it without hi-beams.

Sorry, no recommendations on driving lites.

No safety inspection here in CA, just the stringent biannual smog test.
Go with PIAA or Hella driving lights.
