Removing rats nest?

I was wondering how to remove the rats nest, can you hust rip it out or does it have to come out a specific way? and is the rats next absolutly useless being left in my car? i have a 85 engine

Removing your rats nest could hurt your resale value; basically you limit potential buyers to areas that don't have inspections. If you are going to do it, be sure to follow some good instructions that show you how to block off all the potential vacuum leaks, or the car will run worse than ever. There is a real good tutorial on this subject someplace on the forum.

what is the real reason for removing the rats nest, because ill i heard was that its just useless?

the rats nest is for emissions... not exactly useless. Check out the 1st Gen FAQ section, theres a link to a write up at mazspeed there.
