hey all, i own a 84 gsl and have had her for a year, i am still pretty new with modifications though and am looking to do a few smaller mods...i am going to start with removing my air pump and a e-fan installion i would also like to remove the rats nest but do not know how or even understand ALL of whats involved with it, any links or info would be much apreciated, thanks in advance

lol, I had to remove it to get my carb off. Start pulling hoses off, and plugging htem as you go. I think www.mazdatrix.com had the writeup? Seemed sort of complicated though. Looks like a lot of stuff I'm going to have to fix

It's as uncomplicated as the process of completely removing your emissions can be

what exactly is the rats nest? lol

 

(I'm assuming) it's referring to the mess of hoses and crap which lies under the air cleaner surrounding the carb since a lot are useless as far as a running vehicle is concerned. If it means no longer passing emissions I'll take my rats nest.

 

there is no emissions test where i live so it doesnt really matter to me thx for the site pratch

I'm pretty sure that taking it off any 12A RX 7 is the same. Follow the tutorial.

 

i took mine off my '84 gsl which is my avatar...make sure you do a thourough job, no shortcuts. shortcuts will lead to vacuum leaks. vacuum leaks will send you to hell!!!

Glad to know the carb got sent out, BKM. I just wonder if the US Postal system is ever planning on delivering it to me

 

will removing the emissions make the exhaust smell any different? as in bad?

 

you guys are so lucky you have this tutorial to help you. I took mine off before i knew about the tutorial -SCARY!!!!.

 

what willl a vacum leak leave u at ??? on the side of that road? i took my stock air cleaner off and jsut left the hoses hangin there next to the racing beat intake and now my engine makes as swooshing **** sound when i rev it up........wtf is that????

 

if you have a vacuum leak, your car will most likely run like ****. Pretty much, it wont idle or revv quick. as for the "swooshing ****" sound, **** man, you got me, a BOV maybe

Oh, and you better plug up those hoses man, im amazed ur car runs!
