Probably be easier to pull trans with motor. Also easier to replace the above mentioned parts with trans out also.

Remove radiator, starter, unplug electrical harness/fuel lines, dizzy wires, unbolt the exhaust and unbolt engine from tranny. LEAVE THE TRANNY IN PLACE BUT BE SURE to keep it secure...hang the tranny in the hood latch.

In my expeirences it's alot easer to remove/get back in the engine with the transmission attached. Go to mazdatrix.com to get your mounts, they sell just about everysingle other thing you would need.

This was with out a doubt the easist motor I ever pulled out. I had mine out and back in less then a day and replace the parts listed above.

I tried doing it w/o pulling trans- easy out but I could never get the engine to stab the trans, so I ended up pulling trans and bolting them together for install. I then used a jack to lift the tail while getting the engine to grab the motor mounts.

another question......I think i'm going to send my injectors off to get them cleaned because before my old motor went it flooded every other day...is there any other issue that could be causing that?????......im pretty sure I don't have any vacuum leaks.....im hoping it doesn't have anything to do with my ECU.....and my motor had pretty good compression so i don't think that was the prob.......

my 79 s was a breeze to pull, the motor was out in less than an hour, we just pulled the hoses, radiator, clutch slave, and main electrical connects. after a few nuts she popped out w/o a problem, trans (which is very light) was off in 5 min and i was gonna strip the motor down that night but i got hung up on that bastard 54mm flywheel nut.
