Question Removing Air Pump and AC Pump

What size belt would I need for water pump and alternator after I remove Air Pump and AC pump?

The alternator belt should only go to the water pump and alternator, nothing else.

You'll need a two-belt alternator pulley or an electric fan conversion after you eliminate the air pump, too. That or carry a lot of spare alternator belts. The air pump belt does most of the work in turning the water pump and fan, the alt belt barely contacts the w/p pulley, and it contacts on the non-drive (non tensioned) side. Result: Lots of slippage, which eventually burns the belt out until it breaks. And it makes one hell of a noise when the belt hits the hood after breaking at 7k

Electric fan already installed. AC pump will be first to go, then air pump a couple of days after. I have heard of, and damnit cant remember now, but there is a belt(s) that is a sutable sub from some wierd *** car.

Even with the clunky ol' fan off, you will still have high RPM slippage at the water pump because of the cast iron impeller's mass and the water's resistance to being pumped or, rather, beaten by said impeller. The two groove pulley becomes a necessity when the air pump pulley disappears. Regarding belt size, take some vacuum hose and wrap it around the pulleys your belt will use. Take that to the local O'Reilly's or whatever, and they have a neat tool that they can use to determine the exact belt size you need. Then, it's just a matter of deciding on cheapo belts, toothed stuff or overkill Goodyears!

You will definitely need the double pulley. The advice that I have received is to get a "matched" set of belts. They have to be ordered special, but it is no big deal. The matched set are identical lengths, otherwise the belts have a tendency to shred.

Never had a problem with belt slippage at high RPM once I got rid of the fan... YMMV of course.

And I've never had a problem with my front cross-drilled brake rotors in the two years I've had 'em. We all like to roll the dice somewhere...
