removed omp and realized the housing where it bolts is broken.

removed the omp and was installing the re-speed block off plate, when I realized one of the bolts kept spinning...and the housing was cracked and broke off. Need a solution for this...unless just one bolt holding the plate on will be sufficient. No idea how much pressure (if any) there is. I didn't break it...looks like it was temporarly fixed previous with i don't know what...jb weld maybe? no idea but p.o must have tried to do something there.

hope one bolt holds :s

You might be able to get the bolt out if there is enough room to put a screwdriver behind the head of the bolt and apply some pressure while removing the bolt.

I got both bolts out, and removed the omp. its when I was installing the block off plate that I realized that I had nowhere to bolt the 2nd bolt! Then I saw the piece of housing on the ground broken off. So I only have the option of using one bolt.

Only 2 choices are...
1) Use 1 bolt, a crap load of RTV and hope it doesn't seep or just deal with it if it does

2) Replace the front cover with another one. Doesn't take too long, just a few hours and u will wanna replace the o-ring behind it

It won't be a severe leak, if it does leak. There is no real pressure behind it, just an area that oil collects in, may just seep in an annoying, slightly messy fashion.

Its not too bad to change out the front cover, just costs like $10 for 2 water pump gaskets and an o-ring

If it is the lower bolt hole that is broken you might be able to use longer bolt with a washer and a nut and clamp down on what ever metal is still there.

Another option is to use a very wide washer to spread the pressure out over the face of the block off plate.

I have done both methods and oil has not leaked.

^YES^ thank you It is the lower bolt...and I did think that might possibly work too. I think I will try both your methods and hope for the best

actually sorry can't take credit for thinking of both ideas...just the longer bolt idea. I'm not mechanicly inclined enough to think of the washer idea :p

Maybe a bad solution, but perhaps using a standard bolt instead of metric. The off size might be able to grab what's left of the threads. Good luck.
