its probably coming through a bad fuel pump grommet, or it may be coming through rust holes in the wheel wells....

Good question. Many sevens have the storage bin rust problem. This is caused by water comming in from somewhere, but the problem is where. I have not taken the time to test and see where it is yet but I guess that will be a future project.
My guess is that it could be coming in from the sunroof drain, but I am not sure (this is a total guess). If you find out tell me.

I had this problem once. I had a very small rust hole along the wheel well.

Take out the bins and see whats up. If its been going on for more then a couple months, your in big trouble. It cost me over $400 to get the rust problem fixed.

If you have a sunroof, it's coming from there. There is a drain tube the exits at the vents next the rear quarter windows. There is probably a leak somewhere enroute.

IT's a plastic tube that goes through the pillar. The tube might have a hole in it or the clamps might be loose.

It drains in the vents near the rear window. If there is a leak it will drip down the B pillar (where the seatbelts are) and settle under the storage bins.

Exactly. It wouldn't hurt for you to do a "drain hole" in the bins to help prevent such problems. One in the "spare tire well" is a good idea as well.

I personaly cut out all the dead metal and used a grinder to finish it so that there was no more cancer. All $400 was to weld in two new pockets and thats it.
