Red body trim?
Hey guys
My 85 GS has black body trim that has a red stripe in it. Is this factory or some previous owners idea? Went to mazda to get more, they said the strip is all black. Also, the emblems ("MAZDA', 'RX7') on mine are all black, maybe due to wear. I'd rather have chrome, anyone know which it was originally?
Thanks!

im not sure on the strip, but i think it was all black....i have a white care that i painted the trim white then added a red stripe.....
the mazda logo on the back was always black....
on the rx7 logos, the actual "Mazda rx7" is a chrome color, with a black background

The original trim was always black rubber. Dealers and owners often added a metal/plastic tape insert. The majority were silver inserts but I have seen several with a red tape. Some dealers added a pinstrip and a rubber lip moulding on the wheel arches
The Maxda sign was always a raised black pressing.

Partially correct, the 'series 1' had a slightly different Mazda badge. However, the question was asked about a 1985 model [designated a FB in Canada/USA].
I have a SA22C 1985 model which has the all black badges introduced in 1980 for the 'Gen 1 series 2-3' vehicles.

I think the holes in your car will be offset differently. It may involve drilling new holes in your car, or just simply snapping the little pins off the back of the logos and just glueing them on with epoxy or something...

the '82 badges I have don't match up with the holes in the '79... which makes me think that they're different... hmmm... maybe I'll have to check tomorrow.
