My New “Old Skool” Recaro Seats. I need Rail Adapters or something. Any ideas?







Kinda Tight in the car, so I definately have to lower them.



I definitely need to get Seat Adapters made to bring it as low as possible,
But otherwise, a Good Fit.


I am going to have them re-done when I re-do the carpeting. I am going for black seat inserts with Grey Bolsters.

Anyway, Does anyone have a good idea on how to make these seats nice and low?

What model are those? The mesh headrests would actually compliment the cargo net I have behind my seats...

as to lowering, that's going to be a challenge unless you make shorter rails that avoid the lateral brace

They look like recaro's out of an 80's ford ... well they fitted them to the ones we got anyway

they match your car perfectly.

Alot of the recaros from the 80's early 90's had mesh headrests. These were a good buy for me from a guy who imports J-spec stuff (Non Mazda ) So I am pretty sure they're not Ford.

Even sitting on the floor, I could not believe the incredible lateral support over the stock seats. Night and Day.

Those specific seats are probably not out of ford but they are exactly the same as the ones fitted as optional extras to Escorts , Capri's and Cortinas in the UK as well as Vauxhall astra's , Cavaliars and Carltons

Those seats are a pretty popular design, they could be found in the 82,83, and 84 recaro edition Trans Am's
If you can get them to fit in the 7 it will look really sweet.

Look like the old Capri seats to me...

Man you are spending a fortune on this. But seriously I think you need to get the motor and trans in there before worrying about bolting seats in.. You gonna need to run a few wires when you mount the battery in the back and I think that having the seats and carpet out, really makes it easier

The seat is just placed in. BTW, the seats were $200. I couldn't Not buy them for that price. The old engine is out. the new engine goes in tomorrow for a test fit. I already did Setzep's mod to the tranny. I already have 99% of the parts necessary, so the progress will go significantly faster soon. I am still married, so I can't work on it much more than one day a week.

The wires have already been run for the battery relocation, the amp, & the speakers. Tomorrow I will also do Hanman's 2nd Gen Fuseblock mod.

Dont worry, we'll run into each other eventually once they are both completely done and tuned. Then we'll have a friendly... 3...2...1...GO!!

Anthony in some of my vids theres a quick view of it... Doesnt show the fuse block and the circuit breaker but you get a general idea. I wont take pictures of it untill everyhting else is PERFECT. Remember I make my living wiring ****, and to me it looks like crap.. But anyways, theres a 120A manually resetable circuit breaker (runs 2 8 AWG to the stock fuse block on drivers strut tower, a 3 position MAXI fuse block. One 40A goes to the sub amp, 1 30A goes to the 4 ch A/D/S amp, and a 30A feeds the haltechs fuse block and misc stuff. Theres a 2 AWG feeding the starter, its wrapped in 3/4" heater hose to protect it, I had to take extra special care of that wire, since you cant put a fuse on it.

BTW Mike, now that you have it running, keep a fire extinguisher on board. No I am not kidding. I don't want you to ever need it, but if you do, you'll be thanking me.

I have seen the results of too many 3rd gens (and leaking injectors) where the owners had to stand by watching in horror - with nothing they could do about it.

i relocated my battery too
also gonna do that in the brown bullet too

drilled a hole through the firewall for the positive cable and put a rubber grommet to keep it from gettin cut wide open

i have the bins and crap out cause i dont like em and it made life easier, but im going to try and fit the battery under the bins in the brown car.

grounded the negative cable on a nice bolt inside after making sure it would get a good connection

oh and df please tell us what year/model they cae out of and what importer you got em from pleaaaase. as you can tell we all think they rock
im also kinda thinkin of the tan leather fd seats the fd guys seem to dislike to go with my brown leather interior

Any rotary with a stock pulsation dampener is prone to a fire.

From what I can gather the Cosmo engine has the S5 style stamped fuel rails. The PD is integral to them (stupid design), which makes it hard to remove, although they are less prone to fail than the S4 ones. I like the S4 rails because you can tap them for a fitting ane be done with the fire hazard.

I have heard that MPV's use a remote PD that woud be nice to have, if you really want to keep running one.

Mike, thanks for the tip with the heater hose. That was the main wire I was worried about. I sold all my stero ****, so I'm not worried about amps and stuff. The only thing I'm worried about is getting the wire from the fuse block (I have an FC one on there) back to the storage bin. The way I ran my amp power wire (although it was 2 ga) before I wasn't happy with.

I don't know what car they came out of. The seats part nymber is the 84 L-series which were made through 91 according to the recaro site.

My original goal was black FD seats, and I have sat in them in a 1st gen. They are aweome, and they are smaller than stock. I highly recommend Tan Leather ones for your brown interior. Good Choice!

thanks for the part on those recaros as i also have a nice gray cloth interior that they would look good in

yeah those fd seats are sweet and ive seen em gor for like 200 to 250 before just because the tans arent desireable
