Angry rebulit carb problems

i just got done rebuilding my 80 stock carb, so i put it back on today and when i turned the key just to turn the pump on gas went everywhere, the carb was pouring gas. The butterflys on the secondarys and primarys had gas puddles on them... i have the airhorn off right now but from what i can tell it looks right.has someone had this problem before? any help would be a big help thanx!

Did you check the float measurements? Did you put needle valves in correctly? Sometimes they can stick open when new. A whack with a screwdriver handle on the banjo's usually helps them seat.

gas gushing into carb? Yeah, the needle valves are prolly stuck open or your floats are way misadjusted.

Carl's right - You can whack the top of the banjo bolt with a screwdriver handle to try to close them. If that doesn't work, take the air horn off and measure a few times. Don't whack the needle, and don't use a hammer on the bolt. You don't want to trash the bolt head or the threads. Just a tap with the screwdriver head.
