Rebuilt engine?

Well, it looks like I'm, going to be coming into a bit of money sometime in June (graduation!), and considering I have 4 years of college ahead of me and a 160k mile motor, I think its a good time for a rebuild. I change my mind once a week about what I want to do to my car, but currently I'm thinking a streetported motor that will one day be turbocharged running a minimal amount of boost. So who would you guys suggest for a base rebuild thats not going to kill me pricewise but last me a good while. A lot of places seem to be around 2k for a 12a rebuild and 400$ for street porting (atkins, mazdatrix, pineapple racing). Also, does anyone know of any good rotary engine builders in VA or NC? Just let me know what kind of experiences you guys have had with these builders, or maybe suggest some others. One last thing, my goal is around 225-250hp on a sp turbo 12a, don't know if that will help you guys out at all. Thanks!

I'd suggest going with a 87-88 TII. This will easily get you into the 200-250 hp range and not break the bank.

I bought a $400 TII donor car (blown engine) and will have the engine rebuilt for about $1500. Exhaust, fuel pump, driveshaft, oil pan, front cover, boost gage, and hood scoop are expected to bring the total to about $3100. I doubt you could do it cheaper with an aftermarket turbo on a NA system--plus the TII could be made emission legal.

Currently I plan on having Kevin Landers of Rotary Resurrection rebuild the motor. From what I have heard he does a descent job for a great price and has the respect of many people on the FC forum.

Good Luck
