rebuilding rear drums?

took off rear drums tonight and the wheel cylinders look like ****............should i buy new ones or should i rebuild these? and if i should rebuild how hard is it and i want to switch to a disk rear en danyway so would the extra cost of buying new be wasted? ......does rebuilding a rear cylinder work well or will i be redoing this in just a few months??? thank you

i guess it all comes down to the severity of rust and if there are any serious leaks. rebuild should be fine, but only careful inspection will truly decide your course of action ... i'm not sure what the cost difference is: new cylinders vs. rebuild ... it may not very well be too much difference, in which case get new parts. however, if you're seriously planning to get a GSL rear, then i'd delay working on the drums until the swap is complete.

Well what ever you do, when you work with drums,,is
wear a dust mask.you don't want to breath that crap.
If your wheel cyl. leaks mad quick and leaves puddles
on the ground,, buy new, If you have located a disk
brake rearend and have the bucks to buy it,,buy it ! .
Don't forget the brake lines and the e-brake cable.
Make sure the doner car isn't an -SE , so the wheels
lug bolt pattern match yours.About a day before you
start the swap, use some WD-40 on all the bolts first,
that helps some for easy wrenching. remember,,don't
breath the brake dust. i stress that because thats some nasty *** ****..

I got a perfectly working drum rear end, if you want it come and get it. But the catch is you have to take it all if you want some of it.
