Drock, I am currently looking into doing the same thing. I have some estimates from one shop but it is in Ottawa so theses are Canadian dollars.

-labour for removal of motor and reinstallation after rebuild $650
-labour for actual rebuild $650
-machining of warped housing (if applicable) $200
-rotor rebuild kit $750

You can save money by removing the motor yourself. If the motor hasn't been severely overheated the housing won't be warped and thus not require resurfacing. These are ballpark figures. Try to find a shop that specialises in rotaries.

Its about the same in US dollars because the mechanics charge more!

However ir really depends on the level of rebuild.

Some examples:-
STAGE 1 fit new
- apex seals
- water seal
- water seals
- gasket set
- oil control rings
and full engine respring and clearances

STAGE 2 fit new
- full Mazda seal kit
- apex seals
- side seals
- oil control rings
- rotor bearings
- stationary gear bearings
and side plate resurfaced
full engine respring and clearances

Stage 1 costs about $1400 including labour
Stage 2 costs about $2200 including labour
with labour $500-700 its important to know exactly what the rebuild entails. Engine out and in is extra.

for 13b, its around $800 for every seal, spring, and gasket for the engine. that includes apex seals
Don't know if that includes exhaust or intake gaskets.

Mazdatrix has a rotor kit listed at $779.20 US. Their gasket kit is $90-$132 depending on year and if its a California car. Chances are you will need to replace some bearings and other misc. parts so your looking at roughly $1000 in parts alone. And that is in US dollars! If you have it done from a reputable shop that does porting, they will most likely give you a discount(on the porting) seeing as the motor will already be apart. A typical street port job will run you about $400-$500 US and will do wonders to a rotary.

Kevin here in Morristown seems to have a good reputation for quality work, AND relatively cheap prices. You can contact him through his website if you want his advise/ prices/ possibly have him do the work:
http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/

I have been by his place- seems like a nice guy who knows rotary engines inside and out, but I haven't personally had him do any work for me (yet). The few times that I have stopped by his place- his hands were greasy- a sign of a real mechanic .
peace, Bryan.

Tou could add nitrous and turbocharging with a blow through system . The Nikki carb is difficult and perhaps a sidedraft carb would be better.

There are numerous threads on these subjects so use the search facility of this forum. For a start read moremazda's thread '12a turbo write-up". You can get the compnents required at several tune shops, including www.rotaryshack.com whose owner Robert is a forum member.

If you are going for power then its logical to ingreae port xize while rebuilding, and if going for real power I believe you should consider adding four dowels to hold the engine together
