to rebuild or not
i have an 85' 1st gen that was given to me. it has 220,000 miles on the 12a. it cranks but it won't turn over. there is spark. fuel is getting to the carb. the compression is 100psi in rear housing and 60 psi in front housing(apex seal bad?). does it need rebuilt or is there something else i didn't check? is it cheaper for me to rebuild it or purchase rebuilt one(where?). is it possible to put turbo on a 12a ($$$?)

Jeff is right. If MMO is like tranmisson fluid.
After that rotate the crank alittle and do it again.
Get the oil in all rotor sides, and let it sit. Take out the plugs and with a new battery crank it over a little. This will purge the oil and junk out. Install new plugs and it should fire up. Yes you can turbo a 12A I have a line on differant systems.

I'm currently letting a carboned-up low compression 20B sit with MMO in it. Occasiaonally cranking it by hand. It's been in for a little over 24 hours now. I'll leave it in for 48 hours.
I think it's working because when it first started coming out the exhaust ports, it was very dark and think with carbon chunks. Then earlier today I added some more and it started clearing up. That means all the easy stuff is already out of the engine. I'll check it tomorrow and maybe pour a little more in to dillute it with fresh MMO. Couldn't hurt.

Also, keep in mind that the rotary engine has an oil metering pump that drips a small amount of engine oil into the intake. This oil is what allows compression between the apex seals and housing. Tryin to start an engine that has been sitting may be flooding the engine with gas- which removes the oil from the apex seals and doesn't allow compression. Adding some MMO may help in two ways-it will help build compression due to the fuel in the engine diluting whatever oil was left in there, and it will slowly dissolve the carbon build up in the springs that press the apex seals against the housing.
