you could boost the hell out of it until something gives and then rebuild it. but then you might not have anything to rebuild from.

......like he said you really wont know what to replace unless you open her up! If your losing compression, smoking or plan on doing a BP or PP then yes might as well replaced most (if not all) of the internal seals and gaskets. Most rebuilds can be done replacing all soft gaskets and seals and checking that everything else is within tolerence. (omega seals...oops, Apex seals, corner seals, side seals, springs etc.)

I'll be ordering one of their kits this winter to rebuild my '79 core that's sitting in my garage. It ran strong but blew plenty of oil when shifting, so I'm hoping I can get away with just a gasket and spring kit.

did you ask your Dad if he has a caliper? I have never meet a machinest that did not have at least one.

At 150K your housings will most likely have a lot of flaking and will need replaced.

So My bet would be you will need, kit B, and Two housings.

If you are going to turbo, you dont want to skimp on the rebuild kit. Thats the fastest way to blowing your engine (rebuilding it with minimal parts and money, then forcing a turbo onto an engine that was originally na)

Do it right, or you will end up having to do it a second time later, and it will be more expensive at that point because youll probably have to replace the housings that get eaten up when you pop an apex seal under boost.

I agree with Jon^^^

I mean if you are going to go ahead and do it, DO IT RIGHT!!!

Your going to spend all this time and effortand money to rebuild and turbo. im pretty sure you dont wanna do it all over again on the same car.

I have found that Rx-7's are gold diggers they want the best and if you dont give it to them they will let you know about it.

Exactly. If you are planning on boosting it, then why skimp out on the rebuild. You'll be thankful later downt he road when you spend the money to buy everything. You never know how 143,000 mile parts are going to hold up to boost when it comes down to it regardless of how good of shape they are in pre-boost.

Well, on the bright side, I must have massive weight reduction, considering how much lighter my wallet has gotten while working on the 7.

Hmm... I hope that doesn't push me into a different bracket at autocross

I have their rotor rebuild kit, which includes

apex seals and springs
corner seals and springs (but I got 93-95 springs )
side seal springs
viton inserts
front and rear main seal
pilot bearing

Then I got a gasket kit, their rebuild video, and some other little goodies to go along with the rebuild Like streetport templates and a lightweight flywheel.

Can't wait to crack it open!

wish me luck.

btw, i highly recommend atkins rebuild video! a lot of good tricks thrown in. I've already watched it three times, and I just got it today.

If your looking to save money you can order all the gaskets and o-rings from McMaster Carr. I forget what section it's in, but there's a thread with all the part #'s.
